The Middle School and High School Laboratory Technician will:

Coordinate the orders placed by the MS and HS Science teachers with the Purchasing Manager, receive shipments and verify contents, assemble tests and install new equipment.
Maintain, properly control and store an inventory of chemicals, supplies and equipment in the MS and HS Science Department.
Conduct an inventory of all chemicals and science materials at the end of each academic year.
Prepare reagents and solutions specific to the designated science area as requested by the MS and HS Science teachers.
Provide technical support and serve as a resource.
Prepare, set up and issue materials and equipment for use in student laboratory demonstrations and experiments.
Participate in the planning and implementation of lab exercises and experiments; implement new or modified policies and procedures as required; prepare special instructions for non-routine and complex assignments.
Construct, adapt, test and maintain equipment, interface computer systems and apparatus used in the laboratory.
Demonstrate the safe and proper use of laboratory equipment and hazardous or bio-hazardous materials.
Prepare, test, adjust, modify, and perform routine maintenance on and calibrate a variety of technical laboratory equipment; trouble-shoot equipment and make minor repairs or arrange for service repair.
Implement departmental policies and procedures to comply with local, regional and national hazardous materials, health and safety and hazardous waste regulations, and enforce laboratory safety procedures.
Routinely inspect and/or test safety equipment and supplies.
Assist the MS and HS Science teachers during the lab work with the students.
Promote the ASV’s Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports (PBIS) framework and principles.
Collaborate with the MS and HS Science Department and other appropriate staff to create the optimal learning environment for all students.
Actively participate in ongoing professional development and reading to extend learning and collaborate with colleagues to promote a professional learning community.
